Want some more Providence for America? In June of 1776, the British decided to attack the port in Charleston, South Carolina to have a base to crush the southern colonies from.
Their attack was not thwarted in total by human action. The redcoats that tried to invade the American fort were foiled by a very deep creek that they could not cross. Although there were 8 British warships pounding the American fort, 3 of them ran aground and were pummeled by Colonial fire. The fort was made out of palmetto logs. This spongy wood actually made most of the British cannon balls bounce off so it repelled the attack.
One of the British said of the end of the operation "By God, we are glad of it, for we never had such a drubbing in our lives".
In spite of all that is going on in the world, let us not forget the major events that led us here. D-Day was fought by thousands of brave men. They were prayed over by millions at home. This is a little bit of what it was like:

This is a great day to thank a Veteran or Active Duty Member for their service. If not for them, we would not have the freedoms that we enjoy. (Methinks even more freedoms are coming that we didn't know we lacked.)
