I was a teenager in the 1980’s. Whenever I hear people call it the “Decade Of Greed”, I must disagree. The 1980’s were a decade of generosity. It’s when USA For Africa began, remember the song “We Are The World”? It was also the dawning of Hands Across America, Live Aid and Band Aid.
Sure people started buying things for themselves: CD players, bigger televisions, nicer cars, trucks even boats. Why? Because they finally had money. In the 70’s, taxes were too high, there were too many restrictions on businesses and people had little extra cash. When these things changed in the 80’s, people had money in their accounts and wallets to buy things and invest in the future. The same thing happened when John F. Kennedy cut taxes in the early 60’s.
The 80’s may have been a Decade of Decadence for some. Could MTV have contributed to that? I watched MTV when I was a kid. Tulsa, OK was one of its early markets. It sure changed the way things were presented to America.
In spite of all that is going on in the world, let us not forget the major events that led us here. D-Day was fought by thousands of brave men. They were prayed over by millions at home. This is a little bit of what it was like:

This is a great day to thank a Veteran or Active Duty Member for their service. If not for them, we would not have the freedoms that we enjoy. (Methinks even more freedoms are coming that we didn't know we lacked.)

I missed posting this on March 16th. However, EVERY day should be a day that we should tell others & carry out the Great Commission. We shouldn't just do so on 3 days a year.
